Announcement of steel price reduction on August 16, 2023

In the current economic context, with various influencing factors, the construction steel market is facing new challenges and changes in both prices and supply and demand. Steel manufacturing plants have had to make price adjustments to adapt to these changes.

One of the prominent names is Hoa Phat, a leading steel manufacturer in Vietnam, which has implemented its second price adjustment in August, bringing the total number of price adjustments to 19 times since April 2023.

However, it's not only Hoa Phat that has taken such actions. Other companies like VAS, THSVC, Viet Duc, and Viet My have also adjusted their prices in a similar direction such as:

Hoa Phat Steel Company in Hung Yen, Da Nang:

   - Reduced price for construction rolled steel : 100,000VND/ton (excluding VAT)

   - Effective from August 16, 2023

   - Applicable region: Quang Tri - Thua Thien Hue - Da Nang – Quang Nam – Quang Ngai

Tung Ho Viet Nam Steel Company (THSVC):

   - Reduced price for wire rod coils: 100VND/kg (excluding VAT)

   - Effective from August 16, 2023

  VAS Viet My Steel Company:

   - Reduced price for various types of rolled steels: 100VND/kg (excluding VAT)

   - Effective from August 16, 2023

   - Applicable region: Central and Central Highlands

  Viet Duc Steel Corporation:

   - Reduced price for VGS rolled steel: 100VND/kg (excluding VAT)

   - Effective from August 16, 2023

   - Applicable region: Central and Northern regions

Apart from price adjustments, these companies are still implementing price assurance policies for their steel coil and civil steel products. This has provided a positive signal to traders, ensuring a stable and predictable business environment regarding future prices.

However, forecasts indicate that the construction steel market will still face price fluctuations, especially considering the weakened construction demand in the seventh lunar month.

Therefore, the construction steel market is gradually adapting to the changes in the business environment, demonstrating the flexible response of enterprises to challenging situations. Price adjustments and price assurance policies have created a competitive advantage and laid the foundation for future stability. However, continuous market monitoring and appropriate measures are necessary to ensure the sustainable development of the construction steel industry in the future.
